Long time CI “bud”, Jennifer of Surround Stereo went under the knife for the 3rd time, this past Thursday. She had her left ear re-implanted and is well on her way to recover! The moment of truth will come Sept. 25th when she is activated. In the meanwhile…GET WELL Jen and enjoy the pampering!
Right now, I am listening to Jimi Hendrix’s Manic Depression on XM radio on the computer. As crappy as the speakers are and despite the fact the song was recorded in 1967, I was able to discern the lyrics from the guitars, drums and bass. This is a vast improvement from the past when I used to “feel” the music basically by feeling the beat on the speakers.
And lately, I have been listening to some of my older CDs of music from the 70s and 80s – Led Zeppelin, Cream, Sergio Mendes, Fleetwood Mac, etc. No longer do I find myself saying, “that sounds familiar”. Now, its remember who the group is and what they are playing. Even the soul music (the Supremes, the Temptations, Lionel Ritchie and the Commodores, Al Green, Aretha Franklin, etc.) of the late 60s, early 70s is sounding good
Awwwwwwwww…..THANKS!! I think I’m recovering pretty well…I actually woke up a couple of times last night to find myself sleeping on the new ear (it’s really sore this morning as a result…thank goodness for pain pills!). I am SO enjoying just kicking back and relaxing for a few days!
A bit nervous about activation, but no matter what the results, I have some of THE most incredible friends cheering me through it…I’m a lucky girl! π
Thanks again!
Isn’t Sam sweet, Jen! You certainly do have a great cheering section!
Thanks, both of you for leaving comments on Amanda’s blog. We are definitely here to support each other!
I’m so glad music is sounding good to you, Sam!
Jennifer (the other one)
She is sure coming along smoothly! π Now only if she can keep her hands off of it.
Your appreciation for music seems to moving mountains. Rock and roll is a hard one to understand but I love it and I love a challenge. Kudos Sammo! π
I have to tell you I so enjoy hearing about your love for music, AND the fact you can hear it with the CI. It’s inspiring.
