The other day, my wife commented that I should be careful about what I post on my blog. Since the last several posts have had biblical verses in them, she is afraid that people are looking at me as some kind of religious fanatic especially when I am looking for a job. Let me set the record straight…
I am not a Bible-thumping religious fanatic. You won’t ever catch me picketing in front of the abortion clinic on Main St. Nor will you ever catch me vehemently preaching on the street corner that the world is coming to an end.
I just happen to love and believe in God, that’s all! I simply find peace and solitude in something that has been known for well over 2000 years despite the many forms and means that people have portray Him to be. Its a fascinating topic, to say the least. And most people don’t even realize the Bible has been the best selling book during that period.
Life throws us curveballs, knuckleballs, airballs, Hail Marys, and a whole assortment of God knows. “God knows”? Think about it…how many times have you subconsciously uttered that? Life threw me a curve ball one July 2009 morning. “God knows” what was going on at 1AM that fateful moment. And “God knows” that I am here today for a reason. Does that make you or me a religious fanatic?
If for some reason you see a perception of fanaticism here, please remember that as much as perception is 9/10ths reality, there is always that 1/10th margin of doubt.
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”
-James 4:6
Fanatics are nuts and to be feared in this day and age. Having “read” you for years now I can say I have only seen a man of faith. World of difference THAT. 🙂 In a day in which we live, faith is a powerful thing that grounds us!
