on a bike!

means I am not going to spend $40 a week feeding some goddamn fat oil sheik and his harem of 72 hookers. Three times a week, I plan to do my share to protect the environment wearing a nice pair of black steel toed shoes for anyone who wants my “autograph” on their fender. And in the winter, I plan to do what I used to do…commute by bus and train! Hasta la vista Sheik Kissmybutt…I am done paying for your excesses. And on top of it all, I get to really enjoy the sounds of mother nature (and some more) in pure living stereo with my CIs. At least I can hear a few (bleeps) curse me out…too bad!

This brings back some other childhood memories…the 7 mile trek on my bike to work at Jeffer’s Nursery when I was a kid. And in those days, gasoline was $0.29 a gallon! Those were the good old days…

Hmmm…. maybe you’ll see the point of my occasional blog or forum post about bike paths?

In fact, honestly I’m a little hypocritical – I’ve only biked or taken public transport to work once each – I really should do it more often.

I give you a lot of credit, and look forward to reading about your rides.

It isnt’ safe to ride my bike to work, but I have thought about taking the bus. It’s just that the bus takes an our to do what I can do in my car in 17 minutes. Still. . . I can’t help thinking if more people supported alternatives such as bus transportation, they would add more routes. Someone has to start somewhere. You’ve inspired me to at least try it this summer! πŸ™‚

My husband tried riding his bike to work last year and took a bad fall (the road was under construction at that time, so lots of gravel stones…) Since then he has not ridden bike, even though his work is closeby.

Greg…what do you think they have been doing in Europe for years? Eventually, you’re going to see more and more folks biking to work, if you haven’t already. What’s next…horses?

Kim…you could do lots of reading in an hour or answering the HJ posts! πŸ™‚

Karen…what is keeping him from doing it again? If you have a good mountain or hybrid bike, the gravel shouldn’t be an issue and besides, wouldn’t the road construction be completed already?

DT…the traders may be a problem but they are only acting in the best interests of the sheiks and oil companies…and maybe I should throw in Bush/Cheney for good measure!

Emotionally, your rant at the Middle East felt good but I get the feeling that the blame should be closer to home—at the greedy traders of the commodity on Wall Street, no?

It should be noted that America’s biggest oil supplier is Canada, not Saudi Arabia.

    Just thought I’ll mention that.

Sam, I get what you are saying and that bothers me because I’ve always thought that the market has always corrected itself to what the realities on this planet are, corrects itself in spite of the human tinkering that goes on for one reason or another…..now I’m befuddled as all get out! Hahahaha

Well, aaahhh, what do I say about the outfit?, but I give Sam my man, alot of credit. Getting up with me at 4am each day, to run , go to the gym,or ride his bike to work, which is 10 miles, one way. Each day, when I see some people around me, eating and not taking care of themselves, makes me think, yeah, that outfit Sam has on to ride on his bike to work , is really cool!! Love Steph

What do I think they’ve been doing in Europe???

I was in Denmark last year. There were more bikes than cars. At the train stations, you would see a dozen cars in a parking lot, and a thousand bikes. They are way ahead of us in that.

Nice!! I don’t own a car, because it’s just NOT feasible for a college student like me anymore…. tuition, parking space, housing…. pshhh. It’s a huge joke. So, PROPS on making what small difference you can in the world and showing those sheiks (or marketers on Wall Street, whichever one it is!)… especially since you have a car and would be more tempted to use it than me.

I think this is great! Sounds like YOU’RE in much better shape than I am, and I’m 19 years old! Haha.

My bike is still at the hospital, where I left it, for my pre-op appointment.. πŸ˜› Oops.

    Viva la revolution! πŸ˜›

I have been without wheels since 2000 and that felt good! (my truck died due to no oils… it simply vanished without warning! sold the truck) started using three type of transportation that is, walking, bus, bike! of course, on several occasions, ride with somebody in a car or truck.
