Thought I would catch up while I am waiting for Steph to get ready for the Canisius College Shoes for the Shelter 5K starting in 2 1/2 hours from now. This is her first race back since her stress fracture last year. Good luck, babe!
I am pretty much in contention to place in the Queen City Triple Crown series unless the first 2 runners don’t show up! Right now, the weather is really crappy…I mean, what is going on now????? We have a Nor’easter coming up the coast ready to blast NYC and all the coaster cities including Boston where the Boston Marathon will run tomorrow. And it’s already the middle of April!!?? I think I am looking forward to retiring to Florida already!
The Books on CD (The DaVinci Code) is going well…challenging, to say the least. That is the title of this post. Since I got the CD and book from the library, it is pretty well worn out. Three chapters in and it has already skipped a few pages. Just imagine reading a book, following the plot only to find the next page is blank. Or, listening and reading the book in easy to understand English and all of a sudden it sounds gibberish and foreign. Even though it sounds funny, its really a blessing in disguise.
During the “gibberish and foreign” part, I am listening carefully for clues while scanning the book to figure out where I am. Sure enough I heard the name of the main character, Robert Langdon. I was able to find the next instance of that in book and pick up from there. But in the process, the CD skipped a whole page and a half. Then I decided to go back and listen to the CD only and yes, I was able to pick up on some more words like American University. It looks like progress, huh!?
On and by the way, I am being featured quite a bit in the online community that is hosted by my CI manufacturer, Advanced Bionics. This community is called Hearing Journey and its pretty interesting. A great big shout-out to Gloria for developing and administering this site!
