August 1, 2010 in Family room

As much as it is important to recognize my heroic efforts in completing the family room project, credit must be given to those whose contributions made this project possible. Seven weeks later and $6,000 poorer thanks to many of those below, this project has finally reached its conclusion.. And most importantly, I want to thank all of you for your valuable comments, suggestions and prayers. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions……and of course, if you think I am going to help you with your family room project….you are gravely mistaken!

The family room project…the mess!

July 31, 2010 in Cochlear Implants, Family room

As we come down the home stretch, its very important to know that there is the huge mess. Seriously, as much as you would think we could do it in a half hour like those home improvement tv shows, do you think the displaced stuff magically disappears? Family room project update

July 17, 2010 in Family room

Ok folks…time for an update on that family room project. Here are some pictures… As you can see, the room is totally empty saved for a couple of pieces of furniture and the TV. The painting is progressing very nicely. The color you see is Benjamin Moore rattan in semi-gloss. We are using their Regal line of paints and have used it before with complete satisfaction. This particular product goes on very smoothly and shows very little brush strokes. And the rolled version almost looks like the paint was sprayed on. Two coats is what it will take and it cleans up very easily. The carpet is scheduled for installation Monday, July 26th. The furniture will arrive the following Saturday. And the ultimate creme de coope…a 46″ flat screen HDTV, 1080p, 120 hz complete with surround sound will arrive sometime the first two weeks in August.

After “I don’t remember how many” years, we have finally embarked on that long awaiting family room project. In fact, it has gotten so bad that Steph has challenged to me to take a look at what is “in” the couch and my barcolounger. “In” meaning….all of the bacteria and other mythical flesh eating microbes that could have survived 14 years of fat butts, pizza, Chinese food, potato chips, flatulence attacks, soda/beer, snot, coins, etc. So yesterday, we commenced our Shopping for Furniture tour of Buffalo visiting 5 stores. These ranged the gamut of luxury at Calvins to the upper middle class of Bassett, to the middle of the road La-Z-boy to the where the rejected used car salespeople work at I won’t name the chains for fear of reprisals.
