In order to not sound sexist, I am no longer going to define someone according to whether they are a woman, man, both (see Chaz Bono) or whatever it is.  I am going to call it….IT. According to Merriam Webster, the definition of it is : that one —used as subject or direct object or indirect object of a verb or object of a preposition usually in reference to a lifeless thing , a plant , a person or animal whose sex is unknown or disregarded , a group of individuals or things, or an abstract entity — compare he, its, she, they 2—used as subject of an impersonal verb that expresses a condition or action without reference to an agent 3a —used as anticipatory subject or object of a verb ; often used to shift emphasis to a part of a statement other than the subject b —used with many

Who to blame?

June 2, 2011 in Talk is Cheap

Many of you know me as a normally docile guy who uses common sense knowledge and wisdom to live life. And of course, we all have in faith in Him leading the way. Recent circumstances give me a reason to rant and vent about something that just defies common sense logic. The practice that Steph worked for merged with another practice. We had to switch insurance to the new practice’s plan. There was nothing out of the ordinary that would cause us to be alarmed or consider alternative options, if there were any. Last month, I went to get one of my prescriptions refilled. This was something that cost $30 for a 30 day supply…a buck a day. When the clerk said “that will be $201.50″, I was like “HUH?” Despite my frantic protests (has anyone ever seen me frantic??) and after some researching, she came back and said “your

Obama

October 28, 2008 in Talk is Cheap

This blogger has decided to endorse Barrack Obama for President. Its simple…if it talks like a Republican, looks like a Republican, dresses like a Republican, walks like a Republican – it must be a Republican and we all know what they did the last 8 years. So far, Obama has done nothing wrong to not warrant consideration. My other beef is Sarah Palin is one heartbeat away from becoming the next President; how many 72 year olds can stand up to the rigors and pressures of being one especially with the economy in its worse downturn since the Great Depression. And I don’t think being a hockey mom and governor of Alaska is enough experience to stand up to the other leaders of the world. Even the largest newspaper of her home state endorsed Obama. Joe Biden hands-down has more experience and is better capable of stepping in should anything

I can just picture the look on my mother’s face after she reads this and the language…and no, she did NOT teach me THAT! I have been riding my bike to work for over 3 weeks now and it takes me down one of the busiest streets in Buffalo, Main St. Not only is it busy but part of it is under construction. You think that is dangerous? Read on… This morning, Steph and I went for a run down Sheridan Dr. on the sidewalk. Just as we reached a shopping center that has a Starbucks, I noticed a black SUV alongside me. Instinct told me that it will make the turn and cut me off. Boy, was I right! This black GMC SUV with tinted glass was driven by some fatcowho who (1) thinks she is the only living specimen on earth at 5:30 in the morning, (2) is

June 22, 2008 in Biking, Cochlear Implants, Running, Talk is Cheap

Friday night, we did the St. Greg’s The Great Great Race and that is not a typo! Here are our lines… 101. Sam Spritzer Williamsville NY 0:21:18 0:06:51 13/M50-54 86/M 176. Stephanie Spritzer Williamsville NY 0:22:42 0:07:18 2/F50-54 34/F 343. Nike Spritzer 0:25:39 0:08:15 21/M20-24 261/M It surely was a great race and my time tied my second best time which was set at the same race, last year. And Steph was a merely 6 seconds from her PR. A lot credit has to be given to my new-found method of commuting (Click here for that story) and to fellow runners and good friends, Tony and Diane. If you get a chance, head over to the

Another posting from Talk is Cheap… This… click on photo to enlarge plus this… click on photo to enlarge on a bike! means I am not going to spend $40 a week feeding some goddamn fat oil sheik and his harem of 72 hookers. Three times a week, I plan to do my share to protect the environment wearing a nice pair of black steel toed shoes for anyone who wants my “autograph” on their fender. And in the winter, I plan to do what I used to do…commute by bus and train! Hasta la vista Sheik Kissmybutt…I am done paying for your excesses. And on top of it all, I get to really enjoy the sounds of mother nature (and some more) in pure living stereo with my CIs. At least I can hear a few (bleeps) curse me out…too bad! This brings back some other childhood memories…the 7

Thank you Deafread!

See my post Injustice to a Hearing Impaired Blogger… As a result, Deadread didn’t remove my blog. They merely “moved it” to the Cochlear Awareness Network (CAN) for which Rachel volunteers is a marketing tool of Cochlear Americas. Unfortunately, shatforbrains and his stooges are so totally clueless because there are many blogs in Deadread that are owned by members and volunteers of

Injustice to a Hearing Impaired blogger

June 4, 2008 in Cochlear Implants, Talk is Cheap

This morning, over my favorite cup of Starbucks, I was catching up on my blog reading. One of my favorite bloggers is Abbie over at Cochlear Implant Online. So Rachel…thank you for giving me something to talk cheaply about. I do have to admit that my website is linked to the aggrevator at Deafread and quite frankly, to the editors there, I hearby request that you remove me from it. Your blatant violation of the First Amendment is a total embarassment to the Deaf/deaf community. You mentioned that the reason for removal is because this young lady’s website is a “Commerical Sites” because she is “employed as a volunteer”. By the way Tayler, its spelled C-o-m-m-e-r-c-i-a-l and secondly, since when does someone make money from being a volunteer? Then the moron at Deafread mentions “the blog is part of a network whose purpose is to bring awareness about a company’s

Talk is Cheap…

May 31, 2008 in Talk is Cheap

Normally, I would be writing about a race or my adventures being fully bionic. I have garnered quite an impressive audience ever since I started this blog a year and half ago. Its amazing how fast time has flown. Lately, I have been hard pressed to find topics to write about, within the realm of what I have been writing about. I want to write more. I want to unleash those creative juices. I want to share what is really on my mind. I want to keep my current audience craving for more from Welcome to Sam Spritzer’s Web Site. I want to bring in new people; people whose interests are besides CIs and running. So, I’ve decided to start a category called Talk is Cheap. Now I must warn you, my mother did not raise me to write trashy, cheapened, “you’re gonna get in trouble” articles. I am even
