Tomorrow kicks off what would be considered the 2007 official Western NY running season with the 13th annual Cradle Beach Penguin Run at Classics V Banquet Center on Niagara Falls Blvd, Amherst NY. I’ll be there but as a spectator. I just need a couple of weeks to get back into some semblance of a running form but will probably do “fun run” paces until the Shamrock Run to avoid injury and burn-out.

When I started running seriously last year, I was trying to plan ahead but found this difficult with the table style of the schedules. I always had to resort to taking my monthly wall calendar and pencil in the races. So I started dabbling with my email program which also has an appointment book but it suddenly dawned on me that I could provide a valuable free service and at the same time, generate traffic. Lo and behold….born out of this madden insanity yet clever concept was the Western New York Race Calendar…(sounds of Terry-Thomas nefarious laughter in Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines.

This calendar is a compilation of the calendars at Buffalorunners.com and Checkers Athletic Club. I have attempted to reconcile the two and will continue to do so from time to time. Most of the information came out of the race directors meeting that was held last week. If you believe there is an error or omisson, please contact me. While those webmasters have worked tirelessly to make sure the information is as accurate as possible, you should always check with the race director or race website to make sure the race will be run as scheduled.
