I have been Buffalo Spree‘d by a hottie named Jennifer who happens to be a famous blog columnist of the magazine. Don’t believe me? Check it out… click here. Even Steph is beginning to wonder who this Jennifer is but she does happen to have the cutest youngum around so be sure to check her website. And while you’re there., think about subscribing to the “Spree”.
Anyway, on the running circuit, since the last race reported on…these are my lines….
July 4th – Depew-Lancaster Boys and Girls Club 10K
146. Sam Spritzer Williamsville NY 0:46:39 0:07:30 19/M50-54 127/M
July 9th – Loughran’s Buffalo Alumni Rally 5K
78. Sam Spritzer 0:22:37 0:07:17 10/M50-54 67/M
July 12th – Old Home Days 5K
35. Sam Spritzer 0:21:41 0:06:59 3/M50-54 31/M
The Depew-Lancaster represents my longest distance to date. The course was more representative of a countryside with various hills (speedbumps) here and there. The race ended in the rain which was refreshing even though my waterlogged running shoes felt like bricks.
The Loughran’s race features Amherst’s very own version of the Boston Marathon Heartbreak Hill near the end. You approach the hill, look up and assume its just one simple hill only to find that at the top is a 100 yard reprieve before a second hill beckons you to challenge it. Let me tell you this…the Bunny Hop and its East Aurora hills is a piece of cake comparing to this!
And Old Home Days…well, it was my second fastest time ever but for some reason or another, I decided to approach this race as if I was doing a training run. Canned salmon on a whole wheat pita bread does do wonders for anyone who runs! Just make sure you throw in some arugula and Frank’s Hot Sauce.
On the CI front…I do get some CI moments here and there but its really being able to differentiate the various sounds and what they are. For example, the other day I was on my post-lunch walk when I heard birds “squeeching” only to realize it is the distinctive sound made by crows and starlings. I am also beginning to discriminate between speech and sound…meaning it shouldn’t be long before I will be able to “eavesdrop” on other people’s conversations particularly since my office is an open area and other conversations are very easily understood.
And this weekend is a family reunion at my nephew’s. It will also be a celebration of Dan’s 16th birthday as well as the matriarch of the family (my mother’s) 85th birthday.
The next race is for the benefit of the Ronald McDonald House with its awesome post-race party. Steph is planning on running so all ye brawds in the 50-54 female age group….hasta la vista! Hey Jen…bad knees and all, bring Petey, Willy and come have some good time fun!
