Here is the email from my wonderful sister, Ellen, who at the moment lives in Athens, Greece where her husband is the prevost at the Hellenic American University.

Hi Sam,
I know that the implant is getting close and I want you to know that
we have been thinking of you. I am really excited for you and very
proud of you. I know that you will make the most of what it offers
you – and I hope that is the world. I have never known you to quit
anything to which you’ve set your mind.
I also know that Athens is very far from Buffalo. Were that not the
case, I would have loved to be there.
It would be wonderful to go through the process with you – to share
it and to offer support. I will have to hope that you know that I do
that from this distance.
Please email me as soon as you can. I will be anxious to know how
you are feeling – and then of course I will follow (as I have been
doing) your website. Love, me

I am also getting lots of “fan mail” wishing me luck and giving me suggestions as to what to do with my hair. One person said I’ll look good with a buzz cut; another said I could go bald and still not look as good as him; the wife says don’t touch it meaning going around with a “halfaMohawk”; and I am sure Alan, the hair stylist at Serge will give me other ideas. In any case, I’ll have before after and after pictures up this weekend.
Hey Sam ~
Stephanie tells us everyday at work that she doesn’t want you to buzz your head … She loves your hair, and loves running her fingers through it!!! Since her fingers are the only appendage that’s running now … LOL!!!!!! All kidding aside!!! Do what the heck you want with your hair, it will grow back, right???
~Sharon
Yes, my hair will grow back unless Steph drives me so crazy, it falls out on its own!
Sam,
Saw the pictures that you sent Dan. Very becoming. You may want to consider a mohawk all the time.
Glad to see you’re out of surgery and on painkillers.
I hate sending out your daily report, and can’t wait until you return to work.
Karen says ‘Hi!’
