Today I am feeling blah…probably coming down with a cold or something and just in time for my first race of the year tomorrow…the Dash for the Dome 5K. Right now the weather is windy and blowing snow. If its like this tomorrow, I’ll probably chicken out and skip the race.
Nothing much new to report on the CI front. I was listening to Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers in the truck on the way to work. Blakey was a legendary jazz drummer during the mid to late 20th century. The highs and mid-range were very crisp and obvious. Since the CD is digitally re-mastered, the lows are not as strong as CDs that are recorded today so I had to raise the bass on the CD player in order to notice them. I am wondering if one of the programs in the the processor can be adjusted to accommodate “soft” lows since I really enjoy listening to music that was recorded before the digital age as today is known.
On the conversational front, I was having a little difficulty today but I think it was because I think I am coming down with a cold. Voices sounded much more huskier and the highs were conspicuously absent. The tinnitus was not as bad this morning but it seemed to have intensified during the afternoon. I am not sure if it was because everything was so hectic at work today or if I am coming down with something. Right now, its pretty calm since it is quiet in the house except for Steph making a “loud” racket doing the dishes from dinner!
I think for the next mapping session, I will be looking for the program that I like (#2) to be adjusted to that the highs are more crisper but not sharp. Right now the lows are volume-soft but pitch-high which I think is why my eyes are twitching probably because the electrodes on the high side are firing too sharply.
That’s it for now…and the weekend. If anything new or special happens over the weekend, I’ll report back. Otherwise, I am looking to do between 23 and 24 minutes in tomorrows race. And Steph’s Supper Club will be getting together for dinner tomorrow night at Linguines Italian Restaurant in Bowmansville NY. It’s a nice little family styled place known for its…what else…linguine dishes!
Sam,
Tinnitus will rear up its ugly head when one is tired or stressed. I’ve noticed that myself. Sometimes I ask my husband if he hears a fan running and he says “no” so I know it is the “fan” in my head. But, it is not nearly as bad as it was before.
Hope you win every race you aim for!
Laurie…Yes, you happen to be right. Its more pronounced later in the day when I m tired. Music or almost any other pleasant sound does a pretty good job of masking it.
