A Strange CI moment

Yesterday, I was in Best Buy looking to buy a telephone with an answering machine. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the phone I was looking for. On my way out, I passed the security guard who said “have a good one” to which I replied, “you too”.

The interesting thing about this encounter was I didn’t stop, I wasn’t looking at the guy and the exchange was rather sub-conscious. I mean, I walked another 15 feet before I realized I had managed a spoken conversion without looking at the individual, much less read his lips and wasn’t even aware of what was said! How cool is that!?

Anyway, long time CI “bud”, Jennifer of Surround Stereo will be going under the knife for the 3rd time. She’ll have her left ear re-implanted with hopes of eliminating the vibration sensation she has been experiencing.

And another CIer, Mike Royer of The Royer Family Blog!, is getting ready to be an “old man” once again. I am sure its gonna be another Royer Fried Chicken moment!

I am SO tickled…what a GREAT CI moment! I remember the first time someone said something to me and I wasn’t even particularly listening…I was just flabbergasted. I hope you have many, many more of those moments ahead, my friend! πŸ™‚

I loved reading about your “amazing moments” Sam. Isn’t it amazing how many times we forget we are not “normal with perfect hearing like everyone else”? When you hear like you did…..just awesome!

Are you sure you can’t be in the Olympics?????*smile*
