No….not mine..thankyouverymuch, I am doing quite well and awaiting activation. The scar/incision is healing quite nicely and I am comfortably sleeping on that side. Right now, I am listening to/watching Mothership, a compilation of 24 of Led Zeppelin’s greatest hits. And I am using the direct connect so I can crank it up and not disturb the peace. The boys prefer the trash can banging crap called hip-hop or rap and Steph prefers country but at least I have my peace!
Anyway, about the hearing issues and there are two that I was made aware of this week.
This first one was bought to my attention by a fellow CIer and blogger, Jennifer. It’s about a deaf woman’s adventures at the drive-up window at a Steak and Shake in a suburb of Chicago. Click here to see what this is all about.
If that was me, I would just sit there, block the window and wait for the police to arrive.
And the second issue…Pepsi is planning a new Super Bowl commercial that was thought up by one of their deaf employees. It’s about two deaf friends who were driving to a friend’s house and they forgot which house the friend lived. So, they blame each other using sign language and to solve the problem, they honked the horn as they were driving through the neighborhood. Obviously, all of the houses lite up except that of their deaf friend.
As clever the commercial is and somewhat funny, I am having a hard time with how it relates to drinking Pepsi. Now, I have some ideas of my own so if Coke is willing to listen tell them to give me a call, umm…I mean drop me an e-mail.
Anyway…tomorrow is the first race of the year. The Penguin Run for the benefit of the Cradle Beach Camp. And the weather promises to be pretty decent.
HI-FIVE! I can’t believe you are going to be running already.
Crazy man…racing after less than two weeks! Have fun and don’t overdo it!!
My husband runs, so it doesn’t surprise me you are up and running already. Thanks for publishing that “customer service” incident–I live in the greater Chicago area as well. So far I can hear at most drive-throughs, still; but I don’t know how much longer that will be. That I come even close is thanks to my CI from March, 2006. I qualify for a second CI now, and I’m reading your blog to get me ready for that idea. I’m just not quite there yet.
Thanks for your stories and I’m so glad you are having the time of your life, bilateral!
Hi Liz…thanks for stopping by. I hope you do decide to do the other ear. It is so much better hearing with two ears and each day gets better.
