Beautiful day for a race…cool and cloudy with over 300 runners in North Tonawanda for the benefit of Childhood Cancer Research. The start was west of Clinton Park and proceed out (and up) Niagara Street before heading down to the riverwalk and along the Niagara River. Then a turn back inline to the finish line. My times were decent; it was my first sub-22 in two months. Too bad there is only three more races plus the world famous and old continuous running race, the YMCA Turkey Trot. I feel like I am ready to sub-21 but I think I’ll wait till next year.

I am going to try to get a mapping session in this week. I feel like the current maps I have have staled on me as I have not had much progress the last couple of months. Part of that is my fault not practicing but you know, after a lifetime of listening one way (lip-reading) its hard to break old habits. Kinda like, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.

Also, check out the blogs of two fellow implantees had surgeries over the summer, one a newly bi-lateral (Jennifer) and the other a newly implantee (Abbie). Their stories are really down-to-earth and quite compelling. Both of their blogs, and mine, are featured on the Advanced Bionics website.

And, so far as you can see the countdown clock is still ticking towards my becoming fully bionic on January 15, 2008, I am still planning on going ahead even though I will have just start a new job.

Time to head out to the gym…..

Sam, thanks for the mention πŸ™‚ I’m glad you’re going for a new map this week…I’m like you…don’t practice much, but can still tell a difference after a while. Our brain continues to pick up whether we work with it or not πŸ™‚
And I’m also glad you’re going ahead with the second CI. It will definitely be an asset in the workplace…it’s good that your new employers are allowing you to take the time off for it! It won’t be long now…the holidays will make the time pass by in a flash πŸ™‚
