Nice quiet Father’s Day weekend

It looks to be a nice quiet Father’s Day weekend. Nothing is really planned except for puttering around the house and maybe do the Jog for the Jake, a traditional Father’s Day race that loops around Delaware Park.

If I don’t do the race, maybe I’ll get in 10 miles on the Amherst Bike Path instead and shoot for the first leg of the Amherst Triple Crown, the 12th annual St. Greg’s Great Race. Last year, over 800 runners braved hot, humid weather and were treated to an awesome pre-race thunder and lightning storm. Steph will be making her comeback from injury at this race.

The other legs of the Triple Crown are the July 9th Loughran’s Greater Buffalo Alumni Cup Run with its own version of Heartbreak Hill and, the Village Glen Moonlight Run on August 15th. The latter is considered my “home” course since I do most of my running on it.

On the CI front, not much has been happening with the insurance company but I did find a website that has some really valuable information for those whose insurance company denied them. Its Let Them Hear Foundation. I am going to add this to my list of Cochlear Implant links in the right sidebar.

I did have a CI moment yesterday though. During my weekly meeting with the boss, he got a phone call on his cellphone. Since we were in a quiet conference room, I was able to hear the voice coming in from the cellphone even though I couldn’t understand it. Amazing, huh!?

On the other hand, we went out for dinner with some friends last night at a restaurant that had a patio overlooking Elliott Creek. The sound of the water rushing over the dam and down the creek was quite crisp and refreshing. With the new mapping, I was really able to follow the conversation at the table without the background noise being so much of a distraction, including cars whizzing by on Main St.

Anyway, time to head out. And a happy Father’s Day to all of you fathers out there! I hope my kids get me the the 1959 Cadillac convertible or the Garmin Forerunner 305 personal trainer running computer that I have been wishing for!

Yo Sam, Jog for Jake is the BEST PR party. Oh man I only did it once, and it still stands out. Although I can’t run any more I would have walked, crawled it just for the party & Tee, but I gotta work. Bummer
Now I have been in that place on the creek, Even us guys with regular hearing can have a problem. With the room open to the creek, I am OK, but close it up, and all the sounds in the room are picked up by my ears, so I might hear someone two tables away, and not what is being said at my table. Big cachaphony of noise in there.
Take that to your bank and ponder
So when you gonna spin again. Yea, hearing is a problem in that room if the instructor doesn’t have the mouthpiece
upside their mouth. I have spoken that issue to most of the instructors!
