Last week, I wrote about the fiasco at Deafread. As a result, Rachel at Cochlear Implant Online with a bunch of others started their own deaf site aggregator. Its called Deaf Village. Yours truly is now linked to that site and proud to be part of it.
This weekend is the HLAA convention in Reno. Unfortunately, yours truly will not be there. Its a kind of expensive plus I figure there are enough earthquakes out there. Next year’s convention will be in Nashville. I am definitely planning on being at that one.
This weekend is the Jamie LaBarbera Run for Education 5K. This is suppose to be a fast and flat course with a great post race party. And the weather promises to break from the oppressive heat and humidity we had the past few days.
Sam,
I’ve only been to one HLA convention in my life, when it was held here in Seattle. People from all over the country came and it was amazing!! This summer I’m going to the Internation Federation of Hard of Hearing people up in Vancouver, BC. Then from there to Philadelphia for the Say What Club convention. I’m SO excited! It’s wonderful to meet with others who live like we do.
We will miss you at the Convention! But, we’ll look forward to seeing you next year! Maybe you can organize a “run”!!!
How do I get my blog on DeafRead? I couldn’t find a link. . .
I meant Deaf Village, not DeafRead. . .
Laurie,
Click on the “about” page, and you can contact any of the members there. Give them the link to your blog, and they can add you.
Laurie…K.L. said it perfectly! Thanks, K.L!
Sam,
As a new tranformed thinker along with unforeseen former anti-CI for deaf babies, I am learning more about another side of deaf world as I reared in Deaf Culture from deaf school to Gallaudet. Give me your best assumption, what is the average number of attendees of HLAA convention?
If you haven’t seen my articles at website of Cochlear Implant Online, click on Open-Minded Deaf Observer. If you already did, thank you. Smile.
I will check on your site once in a while whenever I can.
Thanks for your support on Deaf Village.
Last chance to drive down here and hop on the plane with me 🙂
Sam good luck on your run this weekend. I hope to go to Nashville next year to meet all you great folk!
David
Open-Minded…I wouldn’t have a clue but I surely wish I was one of them. I will look out for your posts as well. Thanks for visiting!
