Support Groups and the first race of the year

The other day, I started researching cochlear implant support groups. I found a couple of yahoo groups and as a result of that, I was invited to join an “invitation only” group dedicated to Advanced Bionics Implant users. This group was founded in September 2002 and currently boasts 358 members from all over the map. Since joining, I probably have received well over 25 “welcome to the group” type emails. I have never seen such a supportive group and some of the member stories are truly inspiring. If any of you who read this, also wear an Advanced Bionics implant and, would like information in joining the group, leave me a comment and I’ll make sure it gets forwarded to the group’s powers that may be.

Anyway, I plan to be at the first race for 2007 – the 13th annual Cradle Beach Penguin Run at Classics V Banquet Center on Niagara Falls Blvd, Amherst NY. But only as a spectator since I promised my good friend, Di, I’ll help her take pictures. At least, I’ll get to see what a race looks like as a spectator which is something I rarely get to do. I think for my first race of the year, I am going to shoot for the Alden Black Water Baths 5K on Feb. 10th. I was inclined to do the Lockport Y10 that day but that would be pushing it and running the risk of injury.

And Josh, its UNCLE Cyborg to you…

How about I go with BorgUnc or UncBorg or better yet how about I tell you in person when you can hear me. Congrats! We’re all really excited for you! Of course the purple spikey mohawk would have been cool, if you don’t believe me ask Danny.
